DDA compliant stair nosing profiles are used to define the edges of steps and provide best practice solutions to the Equality Act(formerly DDA) requirements of the BRE Approved Document M(ADM)which relates to the access to and use of buildings. These profiles provide a 55mm contrasting colour band on the nose and riser of steps. In choosing the colour for Equality Act stair nosing, reference should be made to the respective Light Reflective Value of the surrounding floorcovering and the stair nosing itself. The colour variant should be at least 30points(where black to white is 100 points).The 55mm measurement is only a guidance and other considerations such as step size and type should be taken into consideration when choosing a nosing.
